About us

We advocate for the rights of all children.

Our History

CPAN was founded by Heather Cronk, the ES Counsellor at the International School of Kenya, in 2014. The purpose at the time was to create a list of volunteers from various agencies across Kenya, who could be called upon as advisors to school child protection officers and counselors. They were to assist them with students who may be abuse victims as part of a multidisciplinary team approach. Heather enlisted the help of counselors at Braeburn to support her work.

Heather navigated this task and recognized that many other schools across Kenya had limited resources or opportunities to collaborate with other child protection teams to develop their knowledge and practices. Heather created a network of schools and MDT members who meet regularly to learn and work together to support the children in their care.

In 2023, the CPAN network has grown to over 200 members, including 30 MDT specialists and over 50 schools. The Kenyan Association of International Schools (KAIS) has recognized the importance of supporting this organisation, and members of the KAIS organisation have joined teachers to form a CPAN Leadership team to continue the excellent work that Heather began.
